Final Reflective Post

This is the final reflective post, and recalling the last session will reflect my experience from this term and my future decisions. The work that I did this term has a satisfactory result which I observing through the course. I have learned how to connect my interest to the real world, crossing mind boundaries and giving an art space for myself despite the current time. The last project with ''Sgt Pepper's lyric book'' has personally, the best evaluation in comparison to the previous project. I found that I can research a lot and choose the relevant information to translate into my outcomes. However, the extended artists' profiles made confusion in some way. I noticed it particularly by creating a book cover. Collecting too much information has introduced the opposite of exceptional illustration tailored to make it as simple as it can be. I made a fault in this term, therefore, in my next tasks, I will try to determine only a few inspirations and transit them ...

Set Project: Final 3D piece

It is high time to show the final 3D outcome. I have been waiting for a sunny day to take a picture of Mr Kite. I found a perfect corner in the window ledge. I managed to find some white sheets for the ''session''. Unfortunately, they were curved and undulating and having no extra ones I tried to make it professional.  All this showcase is after Photoshop edit.  On those shoots I wanted to emphasise his posture. Nevertheless, it is still a bit stiff. Here I captured all his attributes in front of him. And one more, with his hands up. Which personally, I can compare them with gorilla's.  I took two pictures from different angles. In order to zoom in the portrait details. In addition, one from the front. I made a few mistakes regarding background preparation. I could glue or taped pages together to avoid the gaps. However, the software edit made a brighter impression, which is definitely an advantage.  Maybe a thicker paper and front light would reach a more prof...

Set Project: Final stage

Today I started finalising the InDesign version of the book. I made initial improvements in terms of the page layout. The inspiration of how to introduce a more professional look I took from  The Beatles illustrated lyrics.  I bought this book in order to understand the graphic design of the late sixties. The author, Alan Aldridge also had a big contribution in illustrations. However, the book includes various artists from the last decade.  My book is rather different, it has a comic construction and the illustration I put in strips.  Nevertheless, as you can see, I transit the blue line under the songs titles as well. I was not sure, from the beginning about the text field. When I saw the example from Aldridge's book, I am sure that I made a decent effort. I tried my best in terms of managing the space per page.  When I established this work as a book, I needed to embed the page numbers.                  I sav...

Set Project: Further website edit

I can't cope with yesterday's fault. I wanted to find a solution regarding the subpage.  Every time, my attempt in creating the content in the menu caused various problems. One time, I could not see anything except the blank page, and whenever I made a link to any of them it has not worked. Therefore, I decided to face nasty troubles and see how it is going to work. Firstly, following my basic routine regarding any issues, I have checked the internet. I saw numerous articles.  I tried with the first advice.  I supposed to have the subpage icon. The only thing which was displaying on my screen was ''Set as Homepage'' or as a dynamic page.  On the other hand, even subitem is not available. I literally do not know what to do. I found something new. I clicked on the ''manage menu'' tool and I could manage items. And finally, there was an option that seems to be a drop-down variation. It was called ''move in''. And it worked. I found ...

Set Project: 3D piece proccess - painting

Today I decided to colour Mr Kite figure. Before painting straight on the clay, I made sketches with watercolour pencils to verify his clothing. I took the colour palette from the book page that I had made before.  As you can see in the picture, I made a simple posture overview as he stands. In addition, I considered his face profile. I decided to left blue eyes, firstly, because it reminds me of scooby doo as well. This is a part of my childhood. Moreover, the date of production brings back to the hippie movement. And I realize that characters from the cartoon are wearing complementary colours. This turned me to signalise one of the conceptions regarding that colour palette. Firstly, I painted the skin in a light pink shade. In one go I painted the top shape and left the space for trousers. I decided to paint his feet as well. Here, I painted his top in purple. And definitely, he has no support to stand on his feet. I had persuaded my imagination regarding his outfit, theref...

Website update

In today's session, we discussed what can we improve on the portfolio websites. I especially want to enhance the mobility and design of my page. In order to complete the task correctly, I asked myself a few questions from the tutor's slides. Regarding bio page: Is it relevant?  Does it reflect your and your progression route? Yes, I think it clearly does appear to be an designer profile. Is it designed well? Is copyright correct and in place? Does it include your name and what your website is about? Firstly, I saw a big lack of the original side of this profile. It should represent the artist. Therefore, I replaced the first image from the slides on my homepage. It was an ordinary piece from online stock. I have been searching for the best piece connected to the last project. However, I am still unsure about the colour of the text. I will left this for further consideration. I wanted to change those front titles as well, the font needed a change. I was thinking about serif ty...

Set Project: 3D piece sketches/ideas

Today, I decided to sketch out the ideas regarding the 3D piece. According to my intends from the beginning of my 2D project, after finished pages, I should specify what object I will crave. It will be a Mr Kite who was my leading character in the song ''Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite''. It is the only persona which I started  I made some modification for obvious reasons. I needed to create a three-dimensional posture of him. Therefore, I changed the wearing and added an extra kg. I had a visualisation of his likeness and the silhouette.  I placed on the top left side reference points; where the sculpture can keep the balance. I was inspired by futuristic sculptures, precisely the constructivist movement, the example  here . They made a lot of sketches with directional, guidance lines to keep the expressive form, especially by the figure enlisted as basic shapes. As I did it, I could examine the posture. There will be two sources - one as his right leg, and the s...

Set Project: Merging pages in software

Today I made an attempt in creating the first page  A Day In The Life  in Adobe InDesign. I found this software as much convenient in terms of designing the text straight on the ready-made page. As you can see, I completed the page by inserting the right two verses from the song I had illustrated.  I decided to create more pages. To make a ready layout of the book, I ticked the option with flattered pages. Each time, in order to correctly insert a PSD format picture. I followed the options by choosing; File->Place. Then I could change the size of the image, however, it is a bit confusing, because of two active rectangles around the image. One is for cropping the desired sector, the second is for stretching the size of the image. Therefore, in order to change the object into a particular capacity, I need to pinpoint the whole object and then I can move it for example, or change the size keeping the original proportion. I appreciate that I had calculated the page o...
