Art Portfolio: UX Testing of my partners site

 My partner was

André Carvalho

The Homepage

1. Is the homepage pleasing to look at?

It depends on what the user is looking at. I do not like dark backgrounds, but it depends on personal preferences.

2. Does the homepage clearly show both visually and with text what the website is about (i.e represent the students progression route?)?

Yes. When I realized that Andre's progression route is an Animation, I can say that it suits him.

Either, I am unsure whether the site should cover the whole screen or be in a middle.

3. Is there a navigation menu on the homepage?

Yes, on the left side.

4. Is the navigation menu clear and easy to use?

I think is too centralized.

5. Are there social media links on the homepage?

Yes, I was not aware of that social engagement.

6. Do all the menu links and social links work correctly?

Yes, everything works correctly.

7. Do you have any comments or suggestions in regard to the homepage?

As I mentioned, it is up to Andre. I would prefer more contrast on the homepage. Maybe the main title with his name is enlarged.

The About & Contact Page

1. Is the About page pleasing to look at?

The about me page is named bio, I do not know whether it should be like that. Either way, it is a simple look.

2. Does it contain an image or design?

Yes, the picture of Andre with high quality.

3. Is the about me/biography well written?

Personally, it is no reflection for that.

4. Does the about me/biography really tell you about the person and their work?

I was unsure about Andre progression route, judging from the text.

5. Do you have any suggestions on the about me page?

I would pop the text on the right side. It would look more professional.

6. Is the contact page pleasing to look at?

Yes, I have the impression that there is too much happening. Almost all elements are touching each other.

7. Does it contain an image or design?

No.

8. Does the contact page work - test this and find out

It seems to be work.

9. Do you have any suggestions about the contact page?

Maybe if the page would working on the whole screen, It would solve the problem.

The Gallery Pages

1. Do all the gallery pages work?

Not really. I thought if I click on the picture it will automatically enlarge. Besides the one picture, there is a video.

2. Is there an introduction to the work on each gallery page

The introduction is for the project itself.

3. Does all the work have titles

No. The titles are in the advertisement.

4. Are the gallery pages consistent

5. Do the gallery pages work well and are they easy to use?

-

6. Can you go back and forth through the gallery pages easily?

-

7. Is the work displayed to show it at its best?

-

8. What suggestions do you have about the gallery pages?

Andre would present screenshots of his animation and show them in gallery form.

The Whole Site

1. Is the site consistent throughout?

There is still a big gap on either side. Andre can try to reduce the title size.

2. Did you find it easy to navigate and use?

It is easy to navigate. I am afraid of what it would look like with extended content.

3. Was it a good experience going through the site?

Yes, everything is made with a great passion and own style.

4. What would you change if you could?

I am not an expert. I would recommend looking at the other animation artist and their home page examples. Especially those with a darker colour range.

5. Would you recommend this site to others? If not, why not?

Either way, I would recommend this site, especially because of the content. If Andre makes it more encouraging it would work really well. In the video are the parts which could grab attention, because they are well done.

The font is a good choice. Maybe on the home page, the text is too big and it is hard to read it.

Set Project: Final 3D piece

It is high time to show the final 3D outcome. I have been waiting for a sunny day to take a picture of Mr Kite. I found a perfect corner in the window ledge. I managed to find some white sheets for the ''session''. Unfortunately, they were curved and undulating and having no extra ones I tried to make it professional.  All this showcase is after Photoshop edit.  On those shoots I wanted to emphasise his posture. Nevertheless, it is still a bit stiff. Here I captured all his attributes in front of him. And one more, with his hands up. Which personally, I can compare them with gorilla's.  I took two pictures from different angles. In order to zoom in the portrait details. In addition, one from the front. I made a few mistakes regarding background preparation. I could glue or taped pages together to avoid the gaps. However, the software edit made a brighter impression, which is definitely an advantage.  Maybe a thicker paper and front light would reach a more prof...

Set Project: The exact reason why and sketches

I have not straightened why I chose to illustrate the lyrics. As you may have noticed, I know quite a lot about music from the last century and always dreamed about the connection with visual art. Especially in this case, when the album is laid out as a story. Therefore, taking advantage of this opportunity I intend to make something familiar using illustration. You see, songs have a lyric - a story. And I want to share with those, by giving my version. In fact, Primitivism is related to the 60s pop culture and the insights I will publish gradually. The album that I chose is unique in terms of the tracklist.  Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band  has no gaps between tracks. Therefore they made an album that sounds like one continuous song. ''Highly debated it is considered as a one of the first concept album'' (The HollyHobs, 2020). Some of the songs had been established according to the newspapers headers/stories.  The reasons why I chose this relation to the theme ...

Set Procject: Finalisation

Here, I sharing with the process of placeing imagines into a mockup. I solved the issue with proper cutting the document. And also presented the second visualisation with a blue background.
