Set Project: Third part of the background

Today, I posted the last piece of the background. Still, it is not a final version. Overall, I need to draw shapes of the grass and characters.

And welcome to the step by step journey.

By surprise, it is the first part of the Leporello. As I deducted from the last post, I needed to change the textures. It was a lot of the single brush effect. Almost everywhere.
The last part I assumed as the most challenging. Because this one should finish the story with incredible northern lights. Therefore the expectations were extremely high. Maybe that is why I put things off till later with my duties.
This part, is clearly repeat each time. Honestly, site with color palette is very useful.

This time, I found it easier to match both sides. It was much convenient to create a shape of the mountain, as well as the ground. Also, this time I bet on myself with the landscape. I cannot find anything matching my vision of this part. Therefore I made it by myself.
Shading was the hardest part. Especially the mountain. It grabs the whole attention of the illustration. For this reason, I should do it correctly. The good point I made with the output colour. Darker colour allowed me to reach the effect more efficient.
In the next step, I have been making cosmetic changes.

There, I would like to introduce a new topic. I have mentioned in the class presentation the Brother bear. The second (after the Pocahontas) movie with a special place in my heart. I did not realize, especially from the beginning, the influence of this story.

Everything changed when I made sketches of the story outline. When I have looked deeper into the last part (with the mountain and passing Satho po) I found the connection with the Brother bear story. The motif with aurora and spirits flying across the sky. Also, I found some information about the animation team of this movie. According to the Cavender article from 2016, ''The art team describes it as painted naturalism, and Producer Chuck Williams says that he felt that the art team was able to capture the rough and raw look of the area that the story was set in.'' The team had been work on the real footage ''from a variety of different places, included Denali National Park, Yosemite National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and the Canadian Rookies. The team took numerous research trips, to make sure that the environments had the right look to them.''(Cavender, 2016) I adore the way how the author of this article described Koda's transformation scene. She used the term ''emotional state'', which Disney's team wanted to emphasise, but in a positive light. Still, I have got the drills when I try to remind this scene.

She pointed out a perfect summary of what they intend to provoke. ''They also wanted to portray it as a grand and spiritual moment in the story.''(Cavender, 2016)

This moment is an inspiration for the last step in completing the piece.

That is why I created a new board on Milanote with a few captured scenes of this movie.

From here, I took the initial colours for the northern lights.
It took a while before I customized the opacity of the colours with the right brushes.
Next, I ''glue'' each part. I created new layers to smudge the colours for the narrative effect.

Above, I present the final background. In the final steps, I will split this document into six parts. Each part will be in A5 format.

I forgot to mention, on what basis I have changed the overall look of the story. I had made several modifications with clear transmission of the daytime changes. I had made a half-circle shape. The 3D visualisation helped me arrange the story. Pillars determinate the duration of each sector. For example, the first one begins with the tepee and the exact view of the mountain. Also, I considered the position of the sun. Here, the sun rises. Moreover, I made a guidance line exemplifying the motion. As you can see, great attention is directed to the mountain. It symbolises the Satho po destiny. The moment of connection with the purple haze initiating the death.

The second part is with the maturity, where I want to draw the bonfire and ''ritual episode''. The third part is unchanged, farewell with his child and horse.

Set Project: The exact reason why and sketches

I have not straightened why I chose to illustrate the lyrics. As you may have noticed, I know quite a lot about music from the last century and always dreamed about the connection with visual art. Especially in this case, when the album is laid out as a story. Therefore, taking advantage of this opportunity I intend to make something familiar using illustration. You see, songs have a lyric - a story. And I want to share with those, by giving my version. In fact, Primitivism is related to the 60s pop culture and the insights I will publish gradually. The album that I chose is unique in terms of the tracklist.  Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band  has no gaps between tracks. Therefore they made an album that sounds like one continuous song. ''Highly debated it is considered as a one of the first concept album'' (The HollyHobs, 2020). Some of the songs had been established according to the newspapers headers/stories.  The reasons why I chose this relation to the theme ...

Set Project: Sketches and coming back to the first plan

In the last days, I concluded that I should focus on the reasons why I choose this topic and the style of this project. I think I started to be weak and not sure what I want to do. I think the reason is in a large number of researches. Same with techniques and artists to look at. I summarise that I am not capable to mix various inspirations at once. I came back to my first inspiration Anto van Hertbruggen. Because I always wanted to make art like that, no matter what's it gonna take. Here I will discuss the elements which I want to use to combine this pice in one. Here is the whole work with the background. As I mentioned before, I looked at how Anton work on his illustrations. He usually filling few sheets in drawings (as layers for one illustration).  First, I found a great view on google maps. I am interested in the territories of Canada and the northern landscape. The place is in Northwest Territories, in Yellowknife.  click I sketch this place on two sheets of paper. Then...

Welcome to my blog!

Tell me something about yourself:  I am a young artist studying IYZ Art&Design with Graphic Design BA, in De Montfort University. Live in the Leicester city centre. My pathway started since I have been influenced by a close family by Claude Monet’s works. Paintings made by my uncle’s hands were great copies. Those pieces of art have been surrounding me still. I have been studying at Art School in Bydgoszcz, were I gain helpful skills and workshop.  I would like to explore more possibilities to share my skills. The significant key of my artworks made by oil paints is the variously, including different textures and mediums. I’m sure that our expressions and feelings made us artists. In my artworks, I’m trying to take after my deep feelings of research and my inquisitiveness. Furthermore, I’m fascinated by the 50’s and 60’s century artists. Especially, Futurist artist like Boccioni, Silva, Gonzalez. Their appearance have been a tremendous impact on my art.  Claude Monet...
