Research post

On today's class, I will be moving the inspiration for my sign-off project.  According to my series of 4 graffiti conceptions, it can find out really controversial. Taking this opportunity, I would like to bring closer a Banksy's creations. This project will include aspects relating to his conception of urban art.

Follow your dreams - Cancelled (2010) [Graffiti]

Banksy is an anonymous artist from Bristol. His spray paintings in the 1990s were truly unique. In those times music and art had a major impact on the young generation. He is using a well-known technique with stencils. 'He was making street art into something else, a kind of performance art' (Shove, G. (ed.) (2012). The aim points of his art have a attend to attack the establishment. He gets into the media through performance art. Provoking people to change mindsets about street art. Not as a devastating the public area. To point out the non-ordinary value of art. Give the base to considering the message. Leave a trail in someone's mind. According to Shove, G. (ed.) (2012) 'He (Banksy) attacks the establishment to remind you of your own power, not just for the sake of it.' I am agreeing with his point of view. The most convincing argument which clarifies the sense of graffiti is on the last page of the introduction Banksy: You Are an Acceptable Level of Threat and if You Were Not You Would Know About It, 'The point is, art should be truly democratic, truly a part of everybody's life and not just another gang bang for the over privileged.' (Shove, G. (ed.) (2012)

It is so hard to check the real author of those quotes. The book is probably made by Banksy and an editor. I can't even find the places where the photos were taken.

I would like to add for the summary, that a final project will be related to his way of fighting with particular events. I would like to take advantage of this prerogative. Following to my progression route, the street art project will be including initial graphic aspects.

Finally, why I chose this artist? Looking at overall aspects, the reason for that depends on my personality. Urban artists are mutineers in general. I have I thought that I can slightly compare with them. Not with everyone of course, but Banksy is a privileged icon on the Bristol (not only) streets. From his book, I find out that he did not prepare sketches. He is only depending on photography, the marvellous is his original edit. Digression and gallows humour go with his job.

Also, a fantastic result have black or black&red figures. It makes a keep an eye on the important things. It is a concept which shall designate the route for good design.
On the other hand, the graffiti wall losing the building appearance. In most cases, colourful titles, or variously objects causes clashes of the colour scheme. His painting series have a symbiotic relationship with the rhythm of a city.

The one thing which I disagree with is Banksy's tempt to creates real characters. Maybe it was the environment of the 80s which grow along with him. But I would prefer to show up 'own' imagination in the project and idea as well. It would be easier to discover the perspective, not only the artist's mindset (quote).
My project will define the aspects which Banksy missed, according to the above arguments.

  1. Good choice of artist and some nice use of quotation and citation, but be careful about including too much of that without responding to the work yourself. i would find and add many more of Banksy's art and discuss the style, content and colours used in relation to your own work and really give your own opinion about the work, as well as how others have responded.

  2. You really looked at this in depth which is very good. However, maybe add some of your thoughts and ideas on different aspects of his work. I really like that you chose to design street art and I can't wait to see what you will create.

  3. I am amazed how your research ended up even if we can not find too much information about this artist you did really well without it

Set Project: The exact reason why and sketches

I have not straightened why I chose to illustrate the lyrics. As you may have noticed, I know quite a lot about music from the last century and always dreamed about the connection with visual art. Especially in this case, when the album is laid out as a story. Therefore, taking advantage of this opportunity I intend to make something familiar using illustration. You see, songs have a lyric - a story. And I want to share with those, by giving my version. In fact, Primitivism is related to the 60s pop culture and the insights I will publish gradually. The album that I chose is unique in terms of the tracklist.  Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band  has no gaps between tracks. Therefore they made an album that sounds like one continuous song. ''Highly debated it is considered as a one of the first concept album'' (The HollyHobs, 2020). Some of the songs had been established according to the newspapers headers/stories.  The reasons why I chose this relation to the theme ...

Set Project: Sketches and coming back to the first plan

In the last days, I concluded that I should focus on the reasons why I choose this topic and the style of this project. I think I started to be weak and not sure what I want to do. I think the reason is in a large number of researches. Same with techniques and artists to look at. I summarise that I am not capable to mix various inspirations at once. I came back to my first inspiration Anto van Hertbruggen. Because I always wanted to make art like that, no matter what's it gonna take. Here I will discuss the elements which I want to use to combine this pice in one. Here is the whole work with the background. As I mentioned before, I looked at how Anton work on his illustrations. He usually filling few sheets in drawings (as layers for one illustration).  First, I found a great view on google maps. I am interested in the territories of Canada and the northern landscape. The place is in Northwest Territories, in Yellowknife.  click I sketch this place on two sheets of paper. Then...

Welcome to my blog!

Tell me something about yourself:  I am a young artist studying IYZ Art&Design with Graphic Design BA, in De Montfort University. Live in the Leicester city centre. My pathway started since I have been influenced by a close family by Claude Monet’s works. Paintings made by my uncle’s hands were great copies. Those pieces of art have been surrounding me still. I have been studying at Art School in Bydgoszcz, were I gain helpful skills and workshop.  I would like to explore more possibilities to share my skills. The significant key of my artworks made by oil paints is the variously, including different textures and mediums. I’m sure that our expressions and feelings made us artists. In my artworks, I’m trying to take after my deep feelings of research and my inquisitiveness. Furthermore, I’m fascinated by the 50’s and 60’s century artists. Especially, Futurist artist like Boccioni, Silva, Gonzalez. Their appearance have been a tremendous impact on my art.  Claude Monet...
