Art Portfolio Project: First update - The story

When I took a look for the sign off sheet, it made me think about the story for my Leporello. I pointed out the initial ideas and spirit of the whole story.  It will not be act-playing roles, no dialogues. This six pieces story will take a viewer into a mysterious world of Native Americans.  I spent a lot of time thinking about how I want to present the culture and sense of spiritual world perceive by tributes eyes. I interested in the beliefs of this culture. I want to start explaining the background for the strip. Native Americans believed that all living things were watching over by guardian spirits. That could be; trees, wind, animals or people. Mostly, forces of nature.  Usually, the young boys were overcoming the ''journey'' to become a man. They believed that the guardian spirit, once fund, would bestow a special power on the boy and then, he would return to the tribe. Meaning of great spirit was a bit similar to be watched by an angel in the Christian religi...

Art Portfolio Project: Sign off commentary

I decided to add mine commentary before and after sign off with my tutor.  What I write makes more confidence in my thoughts about what I want to reach. Also, it was helpful to point out strengths and weakness. Also, I took to consider any specific materials to gather. And the amount of time, which I will need.  This sheet proves the reason why and how I want to make this project. The step by step procedure clarifies if the will be project settled in time.  It contains affordable questions, which make me feel to look at it in future. Of course in case of any deficiency.    The 'sign off meeting' I made in (27.01.2021) in the morning. It was a short, straight forward conversation. The tutor asked me about my plans for this project. I think that I made it well, in terms of basic pieces of information. I was aware that I was not specific. Especially in the title for Leporello, or for the strip. The tutor gave me an additional artist to research and advised me to pr...

The concept will be based on my own story. The main purpose will be showing the beauty of the world and should affect appreciation to earth. I will be using the techniques of contemporary illustrators mentioned in my research. This project will take five weeks to complete. I will start by writing a short storyline. Then sketch it, basing on real pictures. My work on these I will start from the monochromatic overdrawing by hand from the sketches. And finalization in digital painting on Photoshop, using a graphic ta...

Set Project: Class Development Exercise

To feel more confortable with an idea, a plan with thoughts to summarirse the good and bad aspects will be initial. On class we have been looking into a significant role of strong idea. Frankly speaking this is a common problem. Most of my pieces were fault in the end, becouse at first it had seemed to be great, but in time it found out as an overwhelming.  I always dream big about the project. And I make it usually quite challenging. In most cases I did not have a essential materials, and I giving up. Becouse it will not be like I imagined.  That was a though introduction, but I wanted to mention how simillar this problem is to me.  Teacher presented us a 3 methods, how to build a affordable ideas investigation.  The first was ''the mediative approach'' which was surprinsigly useful. I did not realise that I could 1:1 imagine the whole piece. It was that when I had close my eyes, but after that, I could not draw it perfectly as I seen. I add a comments and still it ...

Set Project: Initial Ideas consideration

Today I will look into developing my idea for Purple Haze.  This post was created after I had read a comment from my tutor. I must admit that I was focused on the outcome too fast. I think that an overwhelming is the relation to the progression route, which in my case it is an illustration. This turned me to create a story.  But it was without an initial idea. Tutor advised me to look into an origin and connection to the purple. This allows me to connect it into a background of course, and in the creation. Not a long time ago I have starting to be inspired by Native American culture. I think it would be a perfect motive for my story. They were very sensitive in describing nature. Contrary to European, they were appreciate Mother Earth. Therefore, the colours were initial in their lives. As well as I posted it previously, they could be inspired by it. Pocahontas , 1995 Research purple in Native American culture:  ''The color purple was not used as war paint or face paint....

Research on Odilon Redon

According to the title of my blog post, today I am going to take deeper research of the XIX century artist - Odilon Redon. All the information should be based on my notes, which I took during the class. In terms of preparing for future lecturers in University life. But I found out difficult to caught the important notes in the current situation. I believe that the lecturers in real life, in a face to face system, will be more beneficial for both sides. Anyway, I would like to support the pieces of information about the lifetime of today's character. In order to make my writing more valuable.  He was born in Bordeaux, France on April 20, 1840. Died in  His nickname was created after mother's first name, Odile. His father pulled him to study architecture instead of art, but in 1857 Redon failed the entrance exams for architectural studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. But Odilon stayed in Paris with influential, famous friends such as Charles Baudelaire, Gustave Flaubert, and Edg...

Set Project: First thoughts

In terms of delivering new experience into my progression route, we have to make a set of six 2D outcomes. I have to choose one of the three themes to go with. I picked the Purple Haze. It is a comparison of words which makes me feel more natural than the rest of the themes. Even Earthly Delights does not sound that promising and proudly. One of my first thought about the determination of haze is mainly a time around sunset or sunrise. Nature defines an adorable range of colours, especially at these periods. When the sun is fighting with woods, houses, objects. But the reflection comes from the water, the air and clouds amaze me the most. There is no human interaction. Innocent and beauty.   That is why I would like to lead this topic into a story. Because there is a requirement of 6 pictures, which I can include all in one long piece of paper. Professionally speaking, this will be a leporello. The examples I inserted below. Maybe there are no the best ones, but I would ...

Icebreaker: Self Portrait

On today's class I made a Self-Portrait. I decided to emphasize the inner feelings which I have been struggled during lockdown and Christmas break. I tried to show the different perspective of self portrait. A new brief and new look. I also tried to avoid the traditional frame, posture, tedious shot with straight forward message. Like ''it's me'' - that is all. But that is dumb. I took it by artistic, deeper way. My perspective. Let's see the world by my eyes.  I wanted to show the perpective of the stranger. Who just entered to the room. Then all the action starts. Some of the significant objects (with remberance of this time) and me, laying on the bed, covered with blanket.  The position and diagonals of this art are not made by the accident. Basing on my culture knoweledge, I connected two paintings from baroque artists. The first, is named  The Death of Sardanapalus (1827) from the brush of Eugène Delacroix. It currently hangs in Musem Louvre in Paris. ...
